Thank you for your recommendations. I remember when my brothers and a lot of other preteen boys were getting so excited about reading Harry Potter. The movies weren't made yet so if you wanted the story you had to read. I read some of the books with my sons as they were being released. My youngest son has listened to the series several times on audio. I know Harry Potter books are one of the most basic series but we really love them!

I’m a self guided homeschooler, so I read a book on a person, and I’ll write a summary of it, and for language arts I’m working on reading comprehension, I do typing, for science I’m studying the body and I’ll read the same things for a week so it’s in my mind and for right now I’m doing graphing for math which is about 10 days worth. This is until I get my math and Language from the good and the beautiful. I also do scripture writing the the soap method after I’m finished with school. I should also mention I’m also doing Bible study in the morning through a book of the Bible. :)

I am planning in months and weeks, but days seems pretty specific! I never know when an illness is suddenly going to pop up or what have you. I just try to divide the content into approximately 36 weeks and then the leftover weeks of school are a buffer for sick days and room to catch up.

This video is so helpful for me. I started looking into CM this year and loved it, but my child is just not the type for all of it. My issue is that she's in her Junior year so while i want to implement all the things you talk about, i feel like im under the gun to get all her requirements done. Do you have any suggestions?

I am so grateful for your words. When we started homeschool a year ago, this is why, to focus on what truly matters, our Savior Jesus Christ, His gospel and becoming disciples. I have a similar passion for His word in all forms and want to bring that passion to my children as it enlivens my soul, I hope it will theirs. It's been a hard year and we are switching things up for something different. You have been very helpful in our transition. I'm excited for your new path and many prayers and belssings to you and your family.

I like to plan ahead because I'm not sure of what I'm doing if not . I've considered reverse planning for when life happens and just wondered though how you get prepared for each lesson or craft , etc without planning upfront.. I just pretend if we didn't get the lesson Monday that if we did it Wednesday it was done and I'm able to check it off for the " week" and if we don't do it I don't check it and I roll it over to the next week . It s kind of a reverse plan in the sense that if we do a different thing I always have it in pencil and can change it. I also have my kids roll a dice after morning basket or morning meeting and they get 1 = mom time, 2= reading 3= writing and literary 4= math and so on its a fun way to shake things up ... we only work about 25 to 30 minutes on each of those rotations 2 to 3 a day then we do a snack and minute to win it in-between and they love that! 😂 I have 4 kids as well..
